Zurich Museum Tickets: Exhibitions and Visits

A Zurich museum day can focus on Swiss history beside the main station, the Kunsthaus collection or chocolate in Kilchberg. Match the ticket to the place and the exhibitions you want to see.

  • Selected city tours and day trips
  • Old town, lake and museums explained
  • Practical arrival and visiting advice

Choose a Zurich museum by subject

A Zurich museum visit starts with a choice of subject and location. The Swiss National Museum, also called the Landesmuseum, covers Swiss history beside Zürich HB. The Kunsthaus offers collection and exhibition tickets with different levels of access. Lindt Home of Chocolate is in Kilchberg, outside the old town, and combines museum admission with an audio guide and chocolate tasting in the ticket offered here.

Choose the Landesmuseum if you want historical context before exploring the old town and its churches. Choose the Kunsthaus for an art visit, selecting the exhibition category before paying. Give Kilchberg its own place in the day rather than treating it as another stop in an old-town walk. For a wider route, use the sightseeing guide.

Landesmuseum admission and station access

At the November 2026 information check, standard adult admission was CHF 13 and reduced admission CHF 10 for eligible visitors, including students. Children and young people up to 16 enter free. The Zürich Card and Swiss Museum Pass also provide free admission here. The exhibition “Einfach Zürich” is free, so identify which part of the museum you want to visit before choosing a paid ticket.

The admission product includes permanent and temporary exhibitions, plus entry to Château de Prangins and the Forum of Swiss History Schwyz. Its one-day label describes validity, not the time needed inside the Landesmuseum. Those additional museums are admission benefits, rather than an organised journey to their locations. Food and drinks are extra.

Regular opening is Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 to 17:00, with Monday closure. The published 2026 calendar adds opening on 15 November from 10:00 to 18:00. Public guided visits can be reserved through the museum agenda; private groups use the reservation desk. Choose a guided visit separately when you want interpretation rather than entry alone.

Bahnhofquai/HB is closed from 14 December 2025 until the end of 2026. The museum itself remains a visit option beside the main station. Alternative stops are Central, Bahnhofstrasse/HB and Sihlquai/HB. Leave large suitcases at HB: the museum luggage limit is 45 × 30 × 50 cm.

Kunsthaus collection and exhibition tickets

The Kunsthaus has several admission levels. At the November 2026 check, collection and small-exhibition admission cost CHF 24 for adults or CHF 17 reduced. A large-exhibition ticket including the collection and small exhibitions cost CHF 31 or CHF 22 reduced. All-in-One admission cost CHF 36 or CHF 25 reduced. Decide on the scope first, especially if a particular exhibition is the reason for your visit.

Regular opening is 10:00 to 18:00 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday to Sunday, with Thursday extended to 20:00. Monday is closed, and rooms close approximately ten minutes before the advertised end. Children under 14 enter free; youth reductions begin at 14. Wheelchair users and an accompanying person enter free, and assistance dogs are allowed. The extension opened in 2021, adding a recent chapter to the city's cultural history.

Chocolate museum in Kilchberg

Lindt Home of Chocolate is at Schokoladenplatz 1 in Kilchberg. The admission option here includes an audio guide and chocolate tasting. The museum's published standard adult admission was CHF 17 at the November 2026 check; the booking offer has its own displayed price. Choose the visit date as well as the ticket, because the museum closes for revision on 3 November 2026 and reopens at noon on 4 November.

Regular opening is 10:00 to 19:00, with the last bookable audio-guide slot at 17:30. Advance online booking is recommended because of demand. If your main interest is tasting while walking through the city, see Zurich chocolate walks for that different format.

Zürich Card and a manageable museum day

The Zürich Card combines second-class public transport in its designated city and surrounding area with free or reduced museum admission depending on the partner. The Landesmuseum confirms free entry with it; treat other museums according to their individual benefit. Build the day around the museum you most want to see, then add an old-town walk instead of committing every remaining hour to another indoor visit.

Museum questions

Does a one-day ticket mean a full-day tour?

The Landesmuseum product uses one day as its validity period. It is an admission ticket, and the included museum locations are not an organised transport itinerary.

Which Kunsthaus price applies?

Choose between collection and small exhibitions, a large exhibition with collection access, and All-in-One admission. Adult prices at the November 2026 check were CHF 24, CHF 31 and CHF 36 respectively.

Can the chocolate museum be visited on 3 November 2026?

It is closed that day for revision. Reopening on 4 November 2026 is at 12:00, so arrange the Kilchberg visit around that exception.
